You do this already, right? Otherwise you wouldn’t be wondering if a graphic design degree is right for you. So keep it up! Don’t limit yourself to class assignments. Make what you want to make too.

Keep a sketchbook. It’s a great place to make those all-important observational drawings, as well as planning your personal work and making notes on designs that occur to you. Keep your sketchbook with you so you can use it whenever inspiration strikes.

The work you do before applying to school will make up the portfolio you use to apply. Keep track of all your best ideas and designs and be sure to have excellent digital images of them made.
